Job Description

What’s the focus of this position?

The focus of the Leader of Inclusive Education position is to drive the development and implementation of support programs that enhance student learning outcomes and academic success. This role centres on identifying and addressing the diverse learning needs of all students, with a particular emphasis on those requiring additional assistance to achieve their full potential. The Leader of Inclusive Education collaborates with educators, parents, and external specialists to create inclusive, adaptive learning environments. Additionally, this position involves the continuous evaluation and refinement of support strategies, ensuring they are evidence-based and aligned with the latest educational research and best practices. The Leader of Inclusive Education aims to foster a nurturing and effective learning atmosphere where every student can ignite their own passion and purpose.

What you will be doing:

The vision for the role of Leader of Inclusive Education is to mentor and guide the Inclusive Education Team, in working alongside families, students and their teachers. You will work closely with the Director of Student Support and the Leader of Wellbeing to provide quality programming adjustments, training, and guidance across the school as required. You will be responsible for all students who fall under the NCCD criteria of disability from Kindergarten and Year Twelve. You will also be required to manage the accountability for these adjustments through NESA compliance and the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data.

As the Leader of Inclusive Education, you will work closely with the Instructional Leadership Team in an advisory and consulting capacity. Your role as a teacher and leader will be to inspire exceptional learning through the implementation of adjustments and differentiation, so that students can meaningfully access the curriculum, engaging and participating alongside their mainstream peers. To do this you will provide coaching to the Inclusive Education Team as well as collaborative and consultative support to students with learning difference and complex diagnosis, their subject teachers, therapists and families so that all parties are actively involved in the student’s education. 

In this role you will:

  • Lead the Inclusive Education Team
  • Work alongside the Leader of Wellbeing in order to communicate, advocate and plan for student’s needs. 
  • Work alongside the Student Support Team (Inclusive Education and Wellbeing) and subject teachers to plan, create, document and provide differentiated learning opportunities for students. 
  • Create Individual Learning Plans collaboratively with families and monitor these, adjustments as part of the collection of evidence, for the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data (NCCD).
  • Support the Curriculum Office in the management of applications and compliance through NESA for student’s adjustments during NAPLAN, HSC and RoSA.
  • Observe and assess students of concern, who may need assistance and adjustments and then support collaborative meetings with families and teachers.
  • Attend excursions, school events and camps as required, to support students with needs, including medical, dietary as well as physical or emotional supports.
  • Participate in staff meetings, team meetings and additional training as part of your role.

Desired Skills and Experience

The essentials you’ll need:

  • To promote the Christian vision and ethos of the school and broader organisation.
  • To demonstrate a living relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • Qualifications as a Teacher with Proficient Accreditation Status.
  • Additional qualification in Special Education or experience working with students who have disabilities or diverse needs.
  • An understanding of Early Intervention services, as well as some experience in Literacy and Numeracy Intervention, program adjustments, and Individual Educational Programs.
  • Excellent organisational, leadership and communication skills as well as the ability to work both proactively and flexibly to respond to students needs as they arise.
  • A desire to pastorally support and disciple the students in your care and within the wider school community.
  • To possess a high level of interpersonal skills leading to constructive relationships with students, colleagues and parents, as well as external stakeholders.
  • A passion for inclusive practices and the drive to continue learning and researching evidence-based practice solutions in relation to this.
  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office and a willingness to embrace new technologies.

Job descriptions will need to be reviewed from time-to-time in order to ensure they remain relevant in a rapidly changing world. We will partner with you to support your performance and ongoing development to ensure you are fully prepared for future challenges as this position and our organisation adapts and grows. This maternity relief position is full time commencing Term One, 2026. The current hours of work are Monday to Friday 8:15am – 4:15pm.
