Narnia Early Learning Centres are the dedicated early childhood facilities of St Philip's Christian Education. Most centres cater to children from 0 to 5 years old and are located adjacent to the Kinder to Year 12 colleges.

Job Description
Narnia Young Parents Early Learning Centre exists to provide a supportive partnership for our parents who are studying at the St Philip’s Christian College DALE Young Parents.
We aim to provide professional wellbeing support to the staff and families at Narnia Young Parents Waratah demonstrating a commitment to the ongoing vision of St Philips Christian College Narnia Young Parents and the Young Parents Program.
Narnia Young Parents aims to improve outcomes for the children of young parents through excellent early childhood education and by supporting their parents to access culturally appropriate parenting and family support, integrated early childhood education and care, and child and maternal health services and early intervention support.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
In relation to families:
Provide information, advice and guidance to young parents around such issues as general welfare, psychological wellbeing, parenting and personal health. This may involve face-to-face contact, group presentations and electronic media.
Build relationships with parents to support them in their role as parents through being a visible presence, listening, guidance, monitoring risk and referring on to appropriate specialist services where needed.
Encourage parent engagement with Narnia through phone calls and emails and maintain a record of contact.
In Relation to Educators:
Build relationships with Narnia staff to support them in their well-being in their work with the children and families of Narnia Young Parents. This may include debriefing, presentations, providing relevant research to support wellbeing, supporting mandatory reporting and providing practical suggestions to support children’s regulation.
Train, support and model Circle of Security with staff and families to embed this practice in the service.
Support the wider Narnia community in all aspects of wellbeing.
In relation to Community:
Foster an open, supportive partnership with the social worker at the young parents program creating a united approach to families, children and the community.
Develop deep relationships with support services to create a holistic program where families are strongly supported.
Be a presence in the community by attending relevant case management meetings, community connection meetings and any opportunities to advocate for the program.
Support the embedment of culture in the early learning service by connecting with community members, being an active member of the Reconciliation Action Plan Committtee and liaising with educators, families and external services to draw a collaborative approach to cultural competence. This may include researching appropriate training, incursions and specific Aboriginal support networks.
Attend Narnia and Young Parent Program meetings to provide support and updates
Contribute to Narnia and YP program events.
In Relation to Management:
Collaborate with Director to ensure that early intervention services are engaged as required to meet the learning and developmental needs of the children in care. In conjunction with the Director, ensure that mandatory reporting procedures are adhered to.
Support the Director to gather evidence for Additional Child Care Subsidies as well as assisting in breaking down barriers for families to gain required paperwork.
Work with the Executive Director when needed to support the wider Narnia community.
Provide a wellbeing report to the centre Director by the 23rd of each month, in writing, so this report can be forwarded to the Executive Director.
In relation to professional:
Demonstrate an ongoing commitment to personal and professional development.
Participate in essential or mandatory training and remain current with child protection knowledge.
Be aware of and adhere to all policy and protocol requirements
Any additional support as requested by the Director will be given as time in lieu.
