Job Description

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

This position primarily supports the teaching and learning processes of students to achieve their God given potential in all areas of learning in collaboration with the Classroom and Learning Support Teacher.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Specific responsibilities include, but not limited to the following:

  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff to support student learning and engagement, which includes, among others, responding to student needs as they arise and maintaining an orderly and attractive learning environment.
  • Deliver Tier 2 (strategic) and Tier 3 (Intensive) Literacy and Numeracy programs for small groups of students where trained to do and under the direction of Learning Support Teacher.
  • Complete and submit assessment data to the Learning Support Teacher on a regular basis.
  • Run small groups according to Learning Support Assistant timetable and maintain small group records on attendance, lessons/lesson notes, and resources used.
  • Assist the Learning Support Teacher in maintaining Individual Student Programs that integrate these various records.
  • Develop and manage Learning Support activities timetable for each term and run small groups accordingly.
  • Provide regular feedback to Learning Support Teacher and class teachers on small group progress.
  • Deliver standardised testing and placement testing to individual student where teacher qualifications are not necessary to do so.
  • Assist in supervising activities such as connect groups, chapel, extra-curricular activities and playground duties, as directed.
  • Assist the Learning Support Teacher with the testing of enrolled students.
  • Assist and teach students with additional needs within a classroom learning environment in either a small group or individually, under the direction of the teacher.
  • Assist with supervision of Disability Adjustments/Disability Provisions for NAPLAN and various exams.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • Committed Christian who is actively involved in their local evangelical Christian church.
  • Has adequate understanding of the development of social/emotional skills and how to embed specific strategies within the educative process.
  • Possesses excellent working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite of products and proactive in learning new technologies for education support.
  • Possesses excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Has a current Working with Children Check.

  • Demonstrates pedagogical expertise and continuously pursues professional development.
  • Has excellent interpersonal skills with ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively as a member of a team, and effective conflict resolution skills and practices.
  • Manages work based on priorities  in a calm and methodical approach.
